Distinguished FacultyPharmacy Faculty - 01Jeffrey R. Aeschlimann, associate professor of infectious diseases, has won numerous research awards. His areas of expertise include infections caused by bacteria. In his lab, he strives to understand how bacteria become resistant to antibiotics and seeks to develop new ways either to prevent or overcome this problem. Pharmacy Faculty - 02Robin H. Bogner, associate professor of pharmaceutical sciences, is a University Teaching Fellow and the 2007 School of Pharmacy Teacher of the Year. Her research focuses on improving the bioavailability of potential drugs, and her group is currently exploring ways to make better and safer drug products. Pharmacy Faculty - 03Devra Dang, assistant clinical professor, is an expert in drug therapy management of chronic medical conditions, with a focus on diabetes. She also researches medication adherence and persistence, as well as how cultural competency, diversity and health literacy impact people's use of pharmaceutical products. Pharmacy Faculty - 04José Manautou, associate professor of toxicology, coordinates a Summer Research Program in Toxicology for Minority Students, serves as advisor to the Academy of Students of Pharmacy, serves on the Medical Advisory Committee for Connecticut’s Poison Control Center and has an active research program in toxicology. Pharmacy Faculty - 05C. Michael White, professor of pharmacy practice, is a 4-time winner of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Drug Therapy Research Award. He is an expert in preventing heart surgery complications, identifying herbs that increase the risk of heart rhythm problems and using drugs or natural products to prevent diseases. |
Successful AlumniPharmacy Alumni - 01Christopher Fortier (’03, Pharm.D.) is the clinical coordinator in the Department of Pharmacy Services and clinical assistant professor at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy. He was the vice president of his class at UConn and the UConn chapter president of the Academy of Student Pharmacists. Additionally, he began his continuing brotherhood in the Phi Lambda Sigma Leadership Pharmacy Fraternity, UConn chapter. Pharmacy Alumni - 02Karen Hoang (’02, B.S., Pharmacy Studies, ’04, Pharm.D.) is a staff pharmacist at Cardinal Health Nuclear Pharmacy Services in Glastonbury, Conn. As a nuclear pharmacist, she is trained in radiation safety and works with radioactive drugs used to diagnose cancer, bone fractures, infections of unknown origin and liver functions. Pharmacy Alumni - 03Aaron P. Hussey (’07, Pharm.D.) is a pharmacy practice resident at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center. He provides pharmaceutical care in medical, surgical, pediatric and cardiac intensive care units, infectious disease, adult internal medicine, solid organ transplant and medication safety. Pharmacy Alumni - 04Sarah McCabe (’04, B.S., Pharmacy Studies; ’06, Pharm.D.) is a pharmacokinetics scientist with Seattle Genetics in Washington. While at UConn, she completed 2 internships at Pfizer in Groton, Conn., conducting research in drug formulations. Pharmacy Alumni - 05Tiriza Saziru (’05, Pharm.D.) is a clinical pharmacist for the City of Austin, Texas Community Health Centers where she works in collaborative practice with physicians for disease management. While at UConn, she conducted original pharmaceutical research on drug release systems. |
